I found a great article published by Apple about their AppleShare IP Print Server Security Protocol. The article discusses the methods used and shows examples of the client-server authentication proceedures step-by-step. The only thing that is omitted is the methods by wich the challenges are encoded, however I suppose that changes depending on the UAM selected for authentication.
