From: adam <adam@du.edu> Date: Thu, 12 Apr 2001 13:09:24 -0600 Subject: Re: PPR: Timeouts On a (possibly) related note, users are complaining that they try to print from MSOffice2000 apps, and while the document never comes out the banner page does. When I do a ppop log job_name this is what I see: $ ppop log p-hlpctr-2737 Job "p-hlpctr-2737" does not exist. The banner page indicates two consistencies: The job is processed by the PPR dotmatrix printer emulator (though jobs that do come through report this as well). All jobs are reported as being one page long (when a document is successfiully printed, of course, this number is >1). A user may sometimes move to another workstation and things will work. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, - -adam adam wrote: > Hey all, > > I am seeing jobs that fail due to timeouts, but I'm confused as to why. > > The clients are printing mostly MSWord2000 documents via samba 2.0.7 to > ppr1.40 on Tru64. > > Here's what ppop list printer_name has to say: > > $ ppop list p-hlpctr > Queue ID For Time Pgs Status > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > p-hlpctr-5503 Mark Braunwarth 08:35AM 001 arrested > (Timeout expired) > > p-hlpctr-5565 AKIHISA AKANO 08:49AM 001 arrested > (Timeout expired) > > p-hlpctr-5577 GREGORY KINNEY 08:52AM 001 arrested > (Timeout expired) > > Here's the log entries: > > $ ppop log p-hlpctr-5503 > %%[ Error: timeout; OffendingCommand: timeout ]%% > %%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%% > $ ppop log p-hlpctr-5565 > %%[ Error: timeout; OffendingCommand: timeout ]%% > %%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%% > $ ppop log p-hlpctr-5577 > %%[ Error: timeout; OffendingCommand: timeout ]%% > %%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%% > > Does anyone know what I can do? > > Thank You, > > -adam
