But I still have a question (perhaps >it can sound silly): can I run papsrv and afpd(netatalk file services >daemon) together? Won't they conflict somehow? No, not if they don't attempt to advertise exactly the the same name. In AppleTalk, the concept of a machine name doesn't really exist as it does in IP. Afpd, on a machine called "mouse" by default would advertise "mouse:AppleShare@My Little Zone". But you could change that to "My Big Server:AppleShare@My Little Zone". Becuase the type is "AppleShare", it can only conflict with other AppleShare servers, on the same machine or on other machines in the same zone. As for papsrv, it will advertise whatever names you tell it to advertise in papsrv.conf. For example: "myprn:LaserWriter@My Little Zone" wouldn't conflict. It wouldn't conflict even if it were "mouse:LaserWriter@My Little Zone" because the types are different. (One is "AppleShare", the other is "LaserWriter".) I am less sure what papd will advertise. On my computer, without a papd configuration file, it advertises "mouse:LaserWriter@My Little Zone". If you want papsrv to adverties a printer called "mouse", you will have to disable it. ================================================================ David Chappell David.Chappell@Mail.Trincoll.Edu Computing Center PostMaster@Mail.Trincoll.Edu Trinity College (860) 297-2114 Hartford, Connecticut 06106
