Subject: RE: PPR: GUI?

Ok, I'm a bit confused. I made a simple printcap like you said, but when I
launch klpq it just logs "unknown" printer to the console over and over. I
put a slash after the name in printcap, too - and it did the same thing.
Where is this "setting" for PPR in klpq?

Are there any other GRAPHICAL ways to view jobs beings spooled? I noticed
something about an experimental WWW interface?

Thanks much.

Jonathan

Klpq has a setting for PPR. The only problem is that you must create a
fake /etc/printcap file because it Klpq have the ability to enumberate PPR
printers. The fake file need only be like this:

Do you mean that the Macs will be printing over AppleTalk to the server and
then the server will dispatch the jobs by LPR? That will probably work,
but LPR is less than ideal, basically because is wasn't designed for server
to printer communication. It would be better to use the HP JetDirect style
protocol done by the "tcpip" interface program or to use AppleTalk.
