Tektronix printers will do just about any protocol - AppleTalk, LPR, AppSock, Netware, EtherTalk and Parallel. The only reason I am choosing to use LPR is because I thought it was better? Should I just use Appletalk? I am somewhat concerned about speed because we print VERY large files. Thanks Jonathan - -----Original Message----- From: David S. That should work, but if the Tek printers support another protocol that PPR supports, I would use it. Does anyone out there know if they do? LPR is ok, but it doesn't support bi-directional communication with the printer and the file size must be know before the transmission is started, which forces PPR to use a temporary file. ================================================================ David Chappell David.Chappell@Mail.Trincoll.Edu Computing Center PostMaster@Mail.Trincoll.Edu Trinity College (860) 297-2114 Hartford, Connecticut 06106
